Academics:
- Depends on the department how much teaching there is.
- It is accredited for Diplomas but there weren’t any tuts to help prepare, it was self study. Occasionally we had departmental academic meetings .

Supervision:
- Comm serves basically run the hospital.

Clinical Exposure:
- Exposure is great, you see and do a lot.
- Exposed to lots of various surgical disciplines and different anaesthesia.
- Good exposure to a wide range of conditions.
Departments worked in:
- Internal Medicine – A lot of responsibility and quite busy, but can be very interesting.
- Anaesthetics – Accredited for DA. Call on your own from the second/third month. You get exposed to various surgical disciplines like ent, Max facs, Neuro, gen surg, ortho, O&G and you learn to be independent early.
- Emergency Department, OPD’s – ICU – spend 6 months, wonderful exposure to clinical skills.development and a great HOD.
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology – Excellent experience in this department. Managed to do the diploma, great support from consultants and motivation to further yourself.
Social Scene:
- Fun group of people together in DQ.
- If you stay in DQ there are always people around to go and watch the sunset with or go to Kruger with on the weekend.
- Nelspruit is a great community to form part of.
Additional Comments:
- Would recommend if you want to learn to make decisions by yourself and manage very sick patients.
- Nelspruit is an amazing place to live. Everything is close by and so many amazing things to do on the weekend- Blyde River, Kruger, Sabie waterfalls to name a few!
- Commserve is better than Internship.
- Would recommend! Excellent facility.
