Clinical Exposure:

• Typical clinic work – chronic conditions, lots of broken bones, the occasional stab chest. Gun shot wounds are very rare. Extremely limited resources (no xrays, no chest drains, very often no POP, often no stock of essential medications. Closest hospital is about 1 hour away but ambulances take a very long time to arrive)

Departments worked in:

• Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ARV clinic, Emergency Department, OPD’s – Can perform circumcisions if you have an interest in this. Good exposure to antenatal high risk clinic and performing basic ultrasounds

Social Scene:

• Very small town, no real social events. Your best bet is to make friends with the other Cosmos in Klerksdorp and visit them on weekends.
